Jared Mayers is the fourth generation to carry on the family name in the ironworks business. The company founded by his grandfather David “Did” Mayers in 1940, became one of the largest railing shops on the East Coast. In 1970 Jared’s father, Bill Mayers, started his own ironworks, and through his insistence on quality craftsmanship and client service, made it into the top choice of noted architects, interior decorators, landscape artists, builders, contractors and discerning homeowners. Jared is continuing the family tradition of unmatched quality and service, while adding enhanced design technology and capabilities to his company, Virginia Ironworks. Looking both to the past and the future, he is dedicated to bringing the beauty and craftsmanship of the family business to a new generation.
The Mayers family’s designs provide both beauty and security throughout North America and Europe. Our work can be seen in many locations including, Newport, RI, Embassy Row in Washington, DC, the Marine Corps Base in Quantico, VA, and American Embassies in Switzerland and Armenia.
Our work has also been featured in multiple episodes of HGTV’s Curb Appeal, as well as HBO’s John Adams, AMC’s Turn and the movies Lincoln and Hannibal. In addition, the family has collaborated with acclaimed architects and designers including, landscape architect Charles Stick, Jay Hugo of 3North Architects and interior designer Bunny Williams.
Jared’s in-depth knowledge of the family project library and familiarity with an array of other architectural sources, along with his skills in computer-aided design and state-of-the-art gate technology, ensure that Virginia ironworks will continue to create the most distinctive, finely-crafted iron work available for years to come.
